The Dublin-based Marsh & McLennan Innovation Centre UC (MMCIC) is an innovative R&D and data analytics hub that delivers industry-leading digital solutions for its clients and colleagues.  It is of strategic importance to MMC and contains representatives from each of MMC's operating companies. 


Marsh Data Services is a department within the Marsh General Management function, headed by the CDO. Its mission is to provide a framework, with associated standards and data platforms, that enables Marsh colleagues and clients to maximize the value of their data assets. Transaction Data Management is a team within the MDS department that provides assurance on the quality of data in the various transaction masters.   


Transaction Data Management is seeking a data analyst to continue the expansion of the team, to build on its existing achievements and mature its solutions for the future. Reporting into the data visualisation and analytics lead you will be a key member of a team at the centre of Marsh's data journey, and will serve as an evangelist for the power of data

We will count on you to: 

  • Develop and implement robust data visualisations and dashboarding (individually and as part of a team). Assist the team to generate reports that are stylish and on-brand, and that demonstrate visual and analytical integrity.   
  • Engage stakeholders using a consultant approach to gather requirements, resolve problems and understand improvements 
  • Participate in and identify new and complex end to end projects and initiatives with large data volumes 
  • Carry out insightful data analysis and craft impactful data stories. 
  • Develop the Qlik data extraction and modelling layers according to best practices 
  • Maintain and document code according to best practice 
  • Complete unit testing and facilitate User Acceptance Testing 
  • Create standardised processes and procedure documents to help manage data consistently and efficiently. 



What You Need to Have 

Technical Skills 

  • Experience working as a Business Intelligence or Data analyst producing reports and analysing, querying, and manipulating data according to defined business rules and procedures. 
  • 3rd Level degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems or related technical field  
  • Experience developing Business Intelligence solutions, preferably in Qliksense and Qlikview. 
  • Outstanding attention to detail coupled with an ability to be calm under pressure. 
  • Ability to create compelling, engaging, and interactive data stories based on strong audience empathy. We are looking to you to bring the data alive for the users in a way that meets their needs, not just their wants.  
  • Knowledge and experience of SQL, MS Suite, ideally Informatica Data Quality 
  • Understanding of the Agile development framework, and specifically Scrum, with the ability to interpret user stories, create tasks and deliver value to Product Owners  


Interpersonal skills – every bit as important as the technical side 

  • Comfortable with responsibility to deliver and resilient enough to handle pressure to balance time, quality and scope. 
  • Assertive and fact-based communicator with excellent communication skills and an ability to explain technical issues to a business audience.  
  • Experience in a rapidly evolving and at times ambiguous environment, with an ability to learn new tasks quickly. 
  • Influencing and negotiation skills in a hybrid & virtual environment. You will be based in Dublin with the team, but your customers are in Europe, the US and Asia.  


What you can expect: 

3 Months – Gain an understanding of the financial services industry in the world's largest insurance broker. Start building a pattern of delivery in an Agile development environment, learning data analysis from passionate experts. 

6 Months - hit your stride in delivery taking responsibility for user stories. Expand your network and the variety and complexity of projects. Embark on training that will improve your value to the team and beyond. 

12 months – Responsibility continues to expand, and as a key team member you will be in a position to help on-board new colleagues, advise senior stakeholders, and deliver complex solutions. At this point it is up to you how your role matures.

  • Qlik Sense development qualifications / certifications,  
  • An understanding of using best practices to transform and model data and produce high quality reports.  
  • A reviewable portfolio of scorecards, apps, visualizations and data stories that you have created. 
  • Recognised technical certifications in applicable tools and methodologies, and a demonstrable application of these  
  • Exposure to Informatica products (e.g. IDQ, Axon, PowerCentre, DEQ), other BI visualisation solutions such as Power BI and Tableau. 
  • Understanding of the insurance and / or insurance broking business domain
