Postgraduate Diploma in Data Analytics (Programme subject to QQI Validation)
As part of the diversification strategy, the College is introducing the Postgraduate Diploma in Science in Data Analytics (subject to QQI Validation) for the first time in Autumn 2021. The College is being supported in this by a grant from the Higher Education Authority (HEA) Human Capital Initiative Pillar 1.
The programme is underpinned by three pillars of knowledge: business analytics, technology, and data science. The field of data analytics intersects these knowledge domains which is reflected in the design of the programme. The central aim of this programme is to ensure that our graduates will develop as reflective, critical thinkers who are academically strong, technically skilled in data analytics, and technology-empowered.

Key Purpose of the Job
The Academic Lead (AL) is the lead role on the PG Diploma in Data Analytics programme management team.

The AL takes lead responsibility for the management and enhancement of the programme. The AL works closely with the Academic Dean in ensuring the provision of academic leadership and strategic vision, while providing high-quality student experience.

The AL will also lecture on the programme for up to five hours per week during teaching semesters.

Key Job Responsibilities:
As Academic Lead you will have the following responsibilities:

Leading the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the programme including managing the annual self-evaluation process and the (re) validation of programmes.
Providing academic leadership through helping to maintain and enhance teaching and learning excellence, both within the programme and in the wider College context.
Chairing the Programme Board.
Acting as line manager to allocated team members in line with Hibernia College policy and practice.
Overseeing and co-ordinating the work of the programme support team.
Ensuring the implementation of high quality marketing and recruitment strategy.
Collaborating with academic administration and learning services in monitoring, reviewing and evaluating the student learning experience.
Liaising and collaborating with our partner, the Analytics Institute, and its member organisations (and other data analytics organisations) in relation to promotion of the programme, recruitment of students, securing work placement for the students, and supervising work placements.
Providing all the reporting information on the programme required by the Higher Education Authority (HEA).
Maintaining plans for the staffing needs of the programme.
Designing and implementing curriculum quality enhancement initiatives.
Developing and promoting best practice and innovation in learning and teaching, making sure that tutors keep up-to-date with learning and teaching developments.
Overseeing student recruitment process in association with the Analytics Institute.
Other relevant duties as determined by the Academic Dean.

The successful candidate will also be expected to lecture up to five hours per week from the modules listed below during the teaching semesters. They will be responsible for lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, setting, moderation and marking of examinations.

Key Job Requirements
Doctoral qualification (NFQ Level 10)
Have a proven track record in the higher education and/or data analytics industry sector including management experience.
Be knowledgeable of recent developments in the data analytics sector.
Be a capable and confident communicator with very strong personal presence and a proven ability to rapidly respond to and manage change.
Be an experienced people manager with proven ability to lead and develop teams.
Be a strong team player who is self-motivating, enthused by change and able to proactively respond to a wide range of rises to the challenges.
Be able to operate effectively within a fast moving organisation while cultivating strong relationships.


Be an active member of committees, forums, national bodies and or working groups relevant to the role.
Be experienced in the management and or delivery of data analytics programmes and the design and management of assessment.
Be experienced in managing and controlling programme budgets.
Be experienced in managing dispersed teams.
