The Analytics Institute Data Science Framework has been developed to support, guide and ultimately accelerate the education process of fit-for-purpose Data Science Professionals.
The Framework sets out to break down the complexity of the skills and competencies needed to define Data Science as a professional practice.
It is important for professionals and employers to be able to map and define the attributes, skills and knowledge that are essential to professional excellence in data science and where they interface and how they interact.

Professional Profile
Employed in a professional capacity which partly or wholly compasses data collection, preparation, cleansing and analysis. Creates reports and communicates results.
Minimum 1-years professional experience in data analytics or related area.
Prerequisites
Bachelor level or post graduate qualification in STEM or related subject area.
Competencies
- Employs data analysis as a significant input to decision making.
- Proficient with common analytics tools (such as MS-Excel).
- Prepares and cleanses data for analysis.
- Proficient in mathematical modelling and statistical analysis.
- Employs critical thinking and innovation in problem solving.
- Applies agile methodology to deliver project work.
- Proficient in data visualization techniques.
- Communicates data results effectively and can fluently apply results in a business or organisational context.
