Unlocking Data At Scale: Building the Foundation Behind an Ultra-dense Dataset of Early Human Development

12.15pm – 12.30pm IST, 13 October 2026 ‐ 15 mins

Room: Wicklow Hall 2 - Level 2

Stanislav Samko, Head of Data Engineering CoE, Sigma Software

When the Hasson Lab research team set out to capture early human development in unprecedented detail, they ran into a problem any data-intensive organisation will recognise. The dataset was enormous and too complex for their existing tools to handle. They had to collect, process, and prepare hundreds of hours of naturalistic recordings for analysis and modelling. At that scale, standard approaches to ingestion, storage, and processing broke down, leaving invaluable data effectively out of reach.

In this session, Stanislav will share how Sigma Software specialists designed and built the data foundation, turning an unmanageable volume of raw recordings into a structured, analysis-ready asset that the researchers could work with. The key message for attendees in the life sciences and manufacturing: when data volume becomes a barrier, it's the data foundation, rather than any single tool that determines what your organisation can discover and act on.
