Our Analytics Institute Inspire Event (Thursday Feb 22nd) was hosted by the great people in the NDRC, who brought together some of Ireland’s leading fast growth analytics companies to share their insights with us.
NDRC, formerly the National Digital Research Centre, was established in 2007 by a consortium of Irish third-level institutions. It has invested in more than 250 start-ups to date with alumni including Boxever, Newswhip and Soundwave.
Our first speaker was Gearoid Mooney, (Manager Reseach and Innovation Enterprise Ireland) who discussed the support ecosystem in Ireland for innovative new start up technology companies.
We then heard from two exciting new start ups – Profile 90 (www.Profile90.com), who are bringing analytics insights into the world of talent scouting in professional sports and Opening.io who have developed a sophisticated automation and artifical intelligence platform for recruitment.
Boxever is a Dublin-based big data and personalization platform for airlines and travel operators. The company, which announced 100 jobs after the last fundraising round, was founded in 2011 by Dave O’Flanagan, Alan Giles and Dermot O’Connor.
Boxever’s Customer Intelligence Cloud is relied on by leading airlines and travel companies to accelerate digital transformation by putting the customer at the centre of every decision.
Newswhip has its headquarters in Dublin but also has an office in New York, offers technology that helps the media, marketing, and public relations sectors to predict trends, spot influencers and develop editorial strategy. Among its customers are the BBC, the Washington Post, Edelman and MasterCard.
Eamon O’ Doherty, Business Development Manager for the Insight Centre for Data Analytics, shared some examples of the fascinating work of the Insight Centre in the area of advanced analytics research.
Bronagh Riordan, Head of the Hive, Deutche Bank’s Global Centre of Excellence for Analytics, discussed how the centre fosters collaboration, innovation and employee engagement to develop analytics solutions which are employed across the global organisation.
We finished the event with a panel discussion which explored a number of topics around the theme of making Ireland a world leader in analytics.
Our sincere thanks to the NDRC, our brilliant speakers and panelists and our members who attended the event.
